You may find the journey is quicker if you travel north on the A78 via Kilmarnock then Irvine and stay on the A78 road to Largs. Do try to avoid travelling through Glasgow during the morning or early evening "rush hour" if possible.

Glasgow (Prestwick) Airport (used by Ryanair) - only 21 miles (34 km)
Glasgow International Airport - only 25 miles (40 km)

Travel Directions to Largs......
From Glasgow International Airport by Car.  Journey time approx 50 minutes.                                                                                      Take the M8 motorway (westbound) and travel west towards Greenock then take the A78 coastal road to Largs.                                        
From Glasgow International Airport by Taxi  and Train.  Journey time approx 70 minutes.                                                                 Take a taxi from the airport to Paisley Gilmour Street station (10 minute journey) then catch train which goes directly to Largs, which is its last stop and takes 50 minutes.The train runs hourly from Glasgow Central directly to Largs.
From Glasgow (PRESTWICK) Airport by Car.  Journey time by car approx 40 minutes.                                                                      Travel north on the A78 signposted Greenock and after 20 minutes you will be on the coast road (still the A78) leading to Largs.
From Glasgow (PRESTWICK) Airport by Train.  Journey time approx 60 minutes.                                                                                 From the airport take the train to Kilwinning (15 minute journey) and change for Largs (30 minute journey).
